Recruiting 26,000 graduates in public service as teachers begins

The education ministry has decided to absorb 26,000 public service graduates to fill the shortage of teachers in schools. 

Minister Susil Premajayantha said applications have been called for the competitive examination in this regard to send a high quality teacher to classrooms.  


He said this while addressing an event held to celebrate the 195th committee meeting on Pirivena Education held at the Sri Dalada Maligawa on Saturday (28).  He further said that these appointments will be targeted at graduates including development officers who joined the government service in the periods of 2018, 2019, 2020 and all underemployed graduates who are not over 40 years of age can also apply for this.
