Reservoirs are filling: Mahaweli Authority

The water levels in the major reservoirs have risen by 77% as a result of heavy showers of more than 100 mm in the hydro catchment areas, Mahaweli Authority Chief Engineer Nilantha Dhanapala said.  


Water level increases of 53.0% in Kotmale, 49.5% in Victoria, 63.7% in Randenigala, 30.5% in Rantembe, 45.4% in Bowatenna and 71.1% in Moragahakanda, he said.  

Meanwhile, he said the water level in Castlereigh has increased to 71.7%, 78.6% in Moussakele, 50.7% in Samanalawewa and 91.9% in Uda Walawe.
