Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday said IMF assistance will not totally solve the crisis faced by the nation.
SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha told a media briefing that political stability is also needed for the nation to come out of its crisis.
“IMF assistance will not solve the crisis which Sri Lanka is faced with today as political stability is also needed. We need a stable nation as well,” the MP said a national election would help the nation to a great extent.
“An election which can change a government is the need of the hour,” he added.
“We are not against the economic policies of President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Actually he revived the fallen economy in 2022 together with an able team. One wonders whether he has an able team to come up with a repeat performance. Therefore he should work with a proper team,” the MP also said.
MP Mujibur Rahaman who also participated in the press conference said 2023 would be a difficult year as far as the people are concerned.
“We have already witnessed this situation with the cancelling of 11 trains yesterday,” he said.
