Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday urged the government to reduce fuel prices as soon as possible and to allow the importation of chemical fertiliser.
SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday said the President should implement these two decisions rather than
addressing the nation.
“The struggle which we have already begun against the government will be a continuous one,” Mr. Premadasa said addressing the party activists at SJB headquarters.
“We expect the government to resolve six issues faced by the people today. These includes the difficulties faced by the fishermen as a result of the ship X-press Pearl which caught fire across Sri Lankan waters, sea pollution which has taken place as a result of the ship, non availability of COVID-19 vaccines and providing a sufficient amount of monitory assistance to low income groups are some of the issues which we expect the government to resolve,” he said.
Meanwhile SJB MP Niroshan Perera who held a press conference said former Minister Basil Rajapaksa who had returned to the island should intervene and get fuel prices reduced.
