Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) had decided to bring in an impeachment motion against the President and a no-confidence motion against the government, SJB MPs revealed in Parliament yesterday.
“We have begun an exercise to bring in an impeachment motion against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa,” MP Niroshan Perera said. MP Mujibur Rahman also confirmed the impeachment motion.

MP Harin Fernando earlier said the SJB MPs have begun placing signatures to a no-confidence motion against the government.
Daily Mirror reliably learns that 18 MPs have placed their signatures to the no-confidence motion. These include Lakshman Kiriella, Gayantha Karunatilleka, Tissa Attanayake, Rajitha Senaratne, Rishad Bathiudeen, Kabir Hashim, M. H. A. Haleem, Harsha de Silva, Harshana Rajakaruna, Rohana Bandara, Dilip Wedaarachchi, Niroshan Perera, Eran Wickramaratne, Mujibur Rahman, Imran Maharoof, Sujith Sanjaya Perera, Hector Appuhamy and Kavinda Jayawardena.
