The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is eagerly waiting to find out what is in store in budget 2022 after a recent remark made by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa that government has nothing to give people through it, MP Eran Wickramaratne said yesterday.
Wickramaratne told a press conference that the Finance Minister has made it clear about what is in store for the people through this year's budget. " The Finance Minister has said there is nothing the government could give the people through this year's budget but the government will have to take from them. Therefore we are eagerly waiting to see what we are going to get," the MP said.
However, he said the SJB expects the government to allocate more for the office of missing persons, office of reparation, and for national reconciliation in the budget 2022.
He also alleged that Sri Lanka's foreign reserves are currently down dollars two billion and are only sufficient to meet import expenditure for a month.
