Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is to hold 150 protests in 150 constituencies simultaneously on April 7, SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayake said yesterday.

“We will hold protests in 150 constituencies on a single day to exert pressure on the government to resolve the issues faced by the people or to give up power,” Attanayake told a press conference.

Attanayake said the party’s May Day rally will be held in Kandy this year.  “We want to focus on the people in the North Western Province and the Central Province on May day this year,” he said.

“We also have another event in our programme. This is the Jana Pawura Programme which is aimed at the presidential elections. We will launch that programme within this year,” he said.

“Our party is also favourable toward debating the IMF report during the next parliamentary session and we also stress for such a debate,”  he added.

“The nation would have been in a better position if the government went to IMF earlier.,” he said.
