SJB will import chemical fertilizer once in power

A future SJB (Samagi JanaBalawegaya)  government will make arrangements to import chemical fertilizer, its  MP J. C. Alawathuwala said yesterday. 

“We will do this as the country needs chemical fertilizer. The present government made a harsh decision to ban the importation of chemical fertilizer

 This affected the agriculture sectors,” he told Daily Mirror.

 The changing over to Organic fertilizer should have been a long-term programme. 

 “The production of food crops is expected to decline because of the importation ban on chemical fertilizer. There are no adequate stocks of organic fertilizer as well” he also said.
