Army Commander General Shavendra Silva who is in Russia met Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces of the Russian Federation General Oleg Salyukov and had cordial discussions on wide-ranging matters of mutual interests.
General Salyukov extended warm receptions to Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva on Monday during a courtesy visit to Moscow on the invitation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces
During the meeting, the two Army Chiefs discussed bilateral importance, including further enhancement of training slots for Sri Lankan tri-service personnel, the conduct of joint military exercises, exchange of knowledge on mechanical and engineering technologies. Thereafter, General Silva received formal military honours from the Russian Land Forces which an Army Commander could receive as a rare opportunity.
