Sri Lanka and Indonesia are exploring the possibility of assembling electric vehicles in Sri Lanka, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta said.
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia, Yasoja Gunasekera said that Sri Lanka is developing a strategic plan to promote electric vehicles in line with the renewable energy policy.
This was revealed during a virtual meeting, organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and the members of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo) to explore opportunities in the Electric Vehicle manufacturing sector recently.
The embassy said that Director (Investment Promotion) Nilupul De Silva and Deputy Director (Investment Promotion) Sudath Jayasekara, presented investment regulations and current market information and answered several questions raised by the members of Periklindo.
