SLAF airlifts persistent vegetative state patient to NHC to retrieve vital organs

A persistent vegetative state patient who met with an accident was airlifted by a SLAF helicopter from the Badulla General Hospital to the Colombo National Hospital yesterday to retrieve vital organs.  The SLAF Bell- 412 helicopter was converted to an air ambulance  


It is expected to donate the vital organs and the heart of the patient to several recipients who are in dire need. The heart transplant surgery is scheduled to be conducted at the National Hospital, Colombo.   

The No.04 Squadron SLAF Base Ratmalana successfully accomplished this mission under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana in keeping with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the SLAF and the Ministry of Health.
