The security personnel assigned to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been reduced to 60, official sources said.  This decision was made by a committee responsible for the deployment of VIP security officers, and a circular reflecting this change has been issued based on the recommendations of the Deputy Inspector General of the Special Security Division, following the directives of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Priyantha Weerasooriya.

In addition to the personnel, the security detail now includes two jeeps, two motorcycles, and a three-wheeler. The circular stipulates that any excess officers must be reported to the DIG in charge of the division by tomorrow (2), and any surplus vehicles must be returned to the Police Transport Division by Saturday (3).
