There is a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country at present, Health Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Samitha Ginige said. According to information of the Health Ministry, a total of 62 cases of COVID-19 had been detected across the country yesterday.
Therefore, the Chief Epidemiologist warned that there was a significant increase in COVID-19 patients during the last two weeks.
The medical reports further prove that those who have received the COVID vaccines are better protected against the virus than those who are unvaccinated.
Meanwhile, the Public Health Inspectors’ (PHI) Union said, the actual cases of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka may be significantly higher than the amount that has been quoted by the Health Ministry.
