Katuwapitiya church suicide bomber’s wife Sarah who is in India and knows exact details about the terror strike could be used by the Indian authorities to prevail upon Sri Lanka to sign the agreement on the East Container Terminal (ECT), two Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MPs claimed yesterday.
SJB MPs Thushara Indunil Amarasena and Mujibur Rahman told a press conference that Sarah the wife of Katuwapitiya suicide bomber may be used by India to convince Sri Lanka to sign the agreement on the Eastern Terminal.
“Sarah is the only living person who knows about the Easter Sunday attacks. Therefore her extradition and apparent investigation will reveal as to whose contract the group carried out and who paid them money. Therefore India may use her to convince Sri Lanka to go ahead with the agreement with regard to the Eastern Terminal,” Mr. Rahaman said.
Mr. Rahaman also questioned as to why Sri Lanka has not sought Sarah’s extradition to date. MP Amarasena said the previous government was only trying to get into an agreement to hand over any terminal to India. “It would have been the Western Terminal,” he said. Besides he said those in the previous government who did wrong are now in political wilderness. “Those who did wrong in the previous government are out of SJB. They have been sent into political wilderness by the people. SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa was only a Minister in the previous regime and did not get involved in any of those agreements,” he said.
