Claiming that he was facing various obstacles in delivering his duties, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe said yesterday that some people within the government were craving for the position of the Sports Minister. He told Parliament that there are some people who are even trying to create issues between him and the President even today.
“I need to get the support of the Cabinet. I must tell the truth. I have obstacles. Some people are craving for the sports ministry.
There are some people who are even trying to create issues between me and the President. That’s all because of the money in sports clubs,” he said.
Speaking during the adjournment debate on the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage said he never believed that anyone in the government would be craving for the sports ministry. “I don’t know if anyone in the opposition is eyeing the position,” he said.
MP Aluthgamage said the Sports Ministry should be handled with great care and that it was not like the Ministry of Mahaweli, Agriculture or Highways.
