While saying that the country is facing a power, fuel, and food shortage which could aggravate further, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday urged MPs of both sides to exercise the powers given to the legislature to resolve the present crisis.
“ The country is facing a fuel shortage, power shortage, and a food shortage. The experts have warned that the food crisis will aggravate further. Therefore I urge the MPs to exercise the legislative powers vested to you and come up with a solution within this week,” the Speaker said.
“ Remember that your children and mine and the future generations must live in this nation. Therefore please see that you all get together and come up with some solution,” he added.
