Sri Lanka, France discuss nuclear energy cooperation

Sri Lanka and France yesterday discussed local energy  sector development, where the focus was made on participation of French  investors in the sector in the island.  

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera in a  message on ‘X’ said he held the discussion with the French Ambassador  in Sri Lanka on the matter.   


“Potential Energy sector investment partnerships were  discussed with the Ambassador for France in Sri Lanka at the  Ministry,” the Minister said.   


“I shared the Government’s policy on renewable energy,  nuclear energy integration plans, smart grid development and energy  efficiency plans. We also discussed regarding a proposal by EDF  (Electricity De France) on nuclear energy and possible partnerships in  the future,” he added.
