Sri Lanka likely to vaccinate children aged between 12 and 15 yrs.

Sri Lanka is likely to join the handful of countries in the world that vaccinate children aged between 12 and 15 against Covid-19, an informed source said.   
Vaccination of children aged between 15 and 19 years has already begun in the country. The experts committee, appointed to make recommendations on public vaccination, will inform its decision in this regard towards the end of this week or early next week.   

The source which insisted on anonymity said State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana has been apprised of the impending recommendation on child vaccination. The pharmaceutical giant Pfizer’s Covid -19 vaccine will be administered to the children of this age group.  


Sri Lanka has ordered 14.5 million doses from Pfizer to be used for inoculation of children and giving booster shots.
