Sri Pada season 2020/21 will end with the dawn of Vesak full moon Poya tomorrow (26).
Chief Incumbent of the Sri Padasthana, Chief Sanghanayake of the Ratnapura Disawa and Chancellor of the Uva Wellassa University Ven. Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thera said the caskets of sacred relics, the four statues of the God and the regalia would be taken in procession to Nallathanniya Buddhist Centre by the army and the police on the day following the Wesak full moon Poya day and from there to Palabatddala Rajamaha Vihare by motorcade.
Later in the day the procession taking the statue of the God Saman and regaliya will proceed to Galpottawala Sri Pada Rajamaha Vihara.
Ven Dhammadinna Thera said the motorcade or the procession would not break journey to accept offerings and charity as a precaution against the COVID-19 pandemic. He said the usual Poojas at the Pelmadulla Rajamaha Vihara would not be held this year.
The sacred relics, the statues and the regaliya would be enshrined after performing rites and rituals in Galpottawala Rajamaha Vihare until the next Sri Pada season.
Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and Ratnapura Government Agent Malani Lokupothagama will attend the ceremony.
