There is a possibility of one getting infected with the Coronavirus even after the first dose of the vaccine, said Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera.
He told media that the vaccine could provide protection to a recipient within the period of 12 weeks after the first dose. “Although one could be infected with the virus after the first dose, it has the potential to protect the person from getting severe symptoms and succumbing to the virus,” he pointed out.
The Epidemiology Chief earlier said that 60 - 65% of the vaccinated people have contracted the virus.
