The suspect who was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over an alleged attempt to set fire to a fuel bowser during the protest in Rambukkana on April 19, was released on bail.
Police said a video was being circulated in the media showing a suspect, wearing a green T-shirt, crossing the railway tracks, throwing something in front of a parked fuel bowser and leaving the scene during the Rambukkana protest.
The CID had arrested the 28-year old suspect from Pinnawala in Rambukkana. He was produced before the Kegalle Magistrate Court on Saturday and was released on two surety of Rs.100,000 each.
A protester was killed when police opened fire on a group of individuals who were protesting due to the shortage of fuel and a fuel price hike in Rambukkana. The last rites of the victim who was killed by the police shooting was held on Saturday.
