Controversial Consultant Judicial Medical Officer (JMO), Dr. Ruhul Haq, who has been embroiled in controversy, has reportedly faced an extension of his suspension,  sources familiar with the matter have told Daily Mirror.  The decision to extend his suspension comes amidst ongoing investigations into his professional conduct.

Dr. Ruhul Haq, known for his controversial practices, has been under scrutiny for delivering contradictory postmortem verdicts in the recent past despite the suspension imposed by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) effective from December 20, 2022 to August 20, 2023.

According to informed sources, numerous parties had demanded from the SLMC that the suspension of the particular JMO due to end on August 20 should be extended.
The SLMC has reportedly extended the suspension under the recommendations of the Public Service Commission.

The SLMC has also sought legal advice on taking further action against the JMO.
