Teachers’ and principals’ trade unions which met Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday were expected to convey their stance today (13) following a discussion with their trade unions, General Secretary of Ceylon Teachers’ Union Joseph Stalin said, following a discussion held with the Prime Minister last afternoon.
He said they stressed the need to implement the proposals of the Cabinet Sub Committee in one stage rather than in four stages as proposed. He said the Prime Minister had agreed to implement the proposals in two stages and added that however, they have not agreed on that. “We will continue our struggle. We will convey our stance tomorrow after a discussion with our trade union collective,” he said.
