Telecommunication providers said that they will increase all mobile, fixed and broadband charges by 20% and pay TV by 25% with effect from today (September 5). It is reported that the tariff increased due to the depreciation of the rupee as the operating costs have increased.

In addition, the value added tax or VAT rate for related services will also be increased from 12% to 15%.   The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has approved the new charges.
