Thai woman smuggling Kush on election night stopped at BIA

A female Thai national who tried to enter the country through airport green channel with 22 kilos of Kush worth over Rs.186 million in baggage on the election night was intercepted by Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).   


Customs Narcotic Control Unit officials on suspicion searched the foreigner trying to exit the airport when they found large packets of Cannabis varieties Kush and Hashish concealed in her bags.   The 37-year-old passenger bearing a Thai passport had arrived in the country around 23.30hrs on Thai Airlines flight TG 307 from Bangkok, when the entire country was closely monitoring the incoming results of the 2024 General Election.   
A gram of Kush has a street value between Rs.7,000 - 8,000 in Colombo.   


The female passenger had been detained for questioning by CNCU officials, Customs spokesman Seevali Arukgoda said.
