Three Police teams have launched investigations into the pre-dawn mob attack on well-known journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama’s residence in Piliyandala early morning yesterday, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.

Samarawickrama’s residence at Cambridge Court in Piliyandala came under attack as some unidentified elements pelted stones at his house and threw excreta at around 2.15 am last morning.
It was reported that attackers had entered the housing complex, holding the security personnel at gunpoint.
The security personnel on duty at the housing complex told the police that the gang came in a white vehicle suspected to be a Wagon R.

SSP Thalduwa said that an investigation is conducted under the direct supervision of an ASP by the Mount Lavinia, Kesbewa and Piliyandala Police Stations.

In addition, Crime of Scene Officers, fingerprint collectors and sniffer dogs were used to collect the evidence.
The spokesman said a court order had also been obtained to access the telephone tower in the area for further investigations.
