To overcome the power crisis: Govt. mulls generating green hydrogen

Utilizing a floating solar and wind combination

 As a way out of the current power and energy crisis, the government has decided to conduct a pilot project to determine the feasibility of generating green hydrogen utilizing a floating solar and wind combination.  

 Accordingly, the Greenstat Hydrogen India (Pvt.) Ltd. which is an affiliated body of Greenstat AS of Norway has agreed to conduct a feasibility study as a pilot project on the subject approved by the cabinet of Ministers.   
 The Sri Lanka Petroleum Development Authority and Greenstat Hydrogen India (Pvt.) Ltd. will enter into an agreement to conduct the said feasibility study, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said..  


Meanwhile, the government will also equip the Samanala Wewa Hydro Power Station with new machinery procured from the GEC Large Machines Ltd. of the United Kingdom which is the original machinery supplier to further strengthen the national grid.
