Mount-Lavinia Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura yesterday ordered police to conduct further investigations and to arrest the suspects involved in the alleged leasing of a building and land belonging to the National Works Institute on a forged deed. Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau conducting investigations of the alleged fraud told court that the evidence of several witnesses were yet to be recorded.
Attorney at Law Atula Ranagala appearing for the complainant informed court that the involvement of the fraud was Rs.3.6 million and that a member of a leading trade union was behind the fraud. The perpetrators of the fraud had forged the name and the registration number of the National Workers Institute. The case was postponed to November 22.
