In response to a request from the Justice Ministry, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), on behalf of the American people, provided audio/visual equipment to the Ministry and the Commercial High Courts, a statement from the US embassy said.
The statement said this equipment will enable courts to record and transcribe court proceedings and will facilitate adjudication during COVID-19-related restrictions, further strengthening the justice sector’s efficiency and effectiveness for Sri Lankan citizens. Justice Minister Ali Sabry and USAID Mission Director Reed Aeschliman met at the Ministry for the handover.
