Following a report which said the perks given to ex presidents have to be cut down as some of them are unauthorized, allegation that perks have been given to a number of ex Presidents have to be cut down, a senior official from the President’s Office said the matter has to be confirmed by an audit while the judiciary should also give a verdict on it.
“ It’s a matter for Audit and Courts if such a thing has happened,” the official who is close to President Ranil Wickremesinghe told Daily Mirror.
It was reported earlier that the State had paid electricity and water bills of some ex Presidents in violation of the Presidential Privileges Act.
A former President is legally entitled to a pension, an official residence, fuel for three vehicles and a personal secretary.
