Asserting that removal of Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila was wrong, Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara said yesterday he would refrain from ministerial duties until justice was meted out to them.
He said that the decision to remove Gammanpila and Weerawansa was wrong and that the government should listen to their proposals revealed at a recent meeting instead of removing them.
The Minister said he would boycott the Cabinet meeting and stay away from ministerial duties.
“I will not resign from my Ministry. However, I will stay away from ministry duties and will not attend the Cabinet meeting,” he said.
He said they would not join the opposition and added that they would launch a separate plan of action instead.
When asked, the Minister said the government should discuss the proposals put forward by the eleven parties to resolve the current economic crisis instead of removing Ministers who criticised the actions of the government.
