A 13 year old boy had taken poison after having stabbed an eight year old boy for not allowing him to play a video game on his mobile phone.
The two children were residents of Wetiya in the Angunukolapelessa Police area.
The child who received stab injuries was admitted to Kuttigala Divisional Hospital and transferred to the Hambantota General Hospital while the child who had taken poison was admitted to the Embilipitiya Base Hospital.
Investigations revealed that the two families had been getting along well. The two children had however been addicted to playing video games on their mobile phones.
On Wednesday evening (05) the 13 year old boy had visited the neighbouring house when the eight year old boy was playing a video game. The former wanted to watch a different one but the latter had not permitted it which had resulted in the stabbing of the 13 year old.
After the incident, he had fled from the area and taken poison at a secret location. An individual who noticed it had admitted the child to the Kuttigala Divisional Hospital and was thereafter transferred to the Embilipitiya Base Hospital.
Angunukolapelessa Police are conducting further investigations.
