Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) informed President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Thursday that it would agree with him only in areas without policy contrasts, a party official said.
SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam who attended the meeting along with his party’s National Organizer Basil Rajapaksa told Daily Mirror there are policy contrasts between the SLPP and the President’s United National Party (UNP).
“We can agree with the president in decision-making only in areas without policy clashes. For example, we are not in agreement with the President’s approach to address the issue related to Kurundi Viharaya in the North,” he said.
Asserting that the meeting was cordial, he said the President would call for a meeting of the party leaders of the government once a month to discuss matters to reach common ground.
