Wild elephant subjected to gunshot injuries in critical condition

Another wild elephant that received serious gunshot injuries had been recovered yesterday from the Rambewa area in Mihintale by the wildlife conservators of the Anuradhapura Wildlife Office.  

A group of wildlife conservators under North Western Range Wildlife Surgeon Dr. Chandana Jayasinghe is providing treatment to the jumbo in an effort to save its life. Dr. Jayasinghe said the wild elephant frequenting the reservation of Pinagama tank had received injuries several days ago when a trap gun fired. He said the jumbo around 35 years of age, was in a critical condition and that he would continue treatments daily.
