Wildlife Officer trampled to death by wild elephant

A wildlife officer had been trampled to death by a wild elephant during a raid to drive away a herd that roamed into Daladagama in Kirinda.   


He had received serious injuries and died on admission to Hambantota General Hospital.    The victim K. W. Indika Kumara was a wildlife guard attached to Nimalawa Wildlife Office in Yala.    A team of wildlife conservators had rushed to Daladagama area on information that a herd of jumbos was causing havoc in the village.   


Kirinda Police conducted investigations.
