Will go home if influenced to join interim govt. - Sajith

Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa yesterday said he will give up politics if any one inflicts influence on him to become an ally of an interim government.  


“If any one tries to influence me to participate in the interim government, I will reveal their names and go home,” Premadasa said.  

“We don’t want to be a part of an interim government and associate with those who have robbed public funds. We only want to form a government with a people’s mandate,” he said.   
“ I was offered the premiership and I refused to accept it. It happened during the constitutional crisis but I refused. Some say that an alternative government will be formed and the opposition leader will be changed. I don’t mind losing the opposition leader’s post. Anyone can take it,” he also said. the SJB which has implemented programmes such as “Husma” where medical equipment is being  distributed to hospitals, has no difficulty in launching projects to revive the economy if it comes to power. He said an SJB government will revive diplomatic ties with the world and get assistance for it.   


SJB MP Harin Fernando and 14 other  MPs who addressed the rally said both the no confidence motion and the impeachment against the President will be handed over to the Speaker by Wednesday.   


The SJB which assembled at Campbell Park marched towards Independence Square. The SJB organizers claimed that it was the first party to hold a May Day rally at Independence squire.   
MP Patali Champika Ranawaka was a notable absentee at the rally.
