Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) might support the Budget 2023 in November if it will be a good one which will not add a burden on people, party MP Mayantha Dissanayake said yesterday. “We will see what the budget is like and make the final decision. We will support it if it will give concessions to people,” Mr. Dissanayake told a media conference. “We in SJB have always stated that we will support all good things which the government does.

We welcomed all good proposals made in the interim budget and we agreed with most of the points which President Ranil Wickremesinghe came out with in his throne speech,” he added.

At the same time, the SJB MP said Sri Lanka might experience a non-performing housing loan crisis like the one which the USA experienced in 2008. “Due payment of housing loans exceeded the value of houses in the USA in 2008 pushing the nation to a deep crisis. Sri Lanka might also experience a similar crisis,” he recalled
Also, he said the government should release senior police officer Shani Abeysekara, reinstate him and compensate him.
