A young woman living in a hostel room at Hiyawala road in Pannala had been hacked to death and the body was recovered by Pannala police last morning.
Investigations revealed that the victim Disanayake Mudiyanselage Vindya Niranjani Disanayake (38) of Weerambuwa , Kuliyapitiya was a mother of two children had been working at a shop in Pannala and living with her lover in the room long after she separated from her husband. Residents of the area said they heard her shouting for help in the early hours of last morning and that they informed police.
Police present at the scene found her in a pool of blood and immediately rushed her to hospital only to find her already dead.
A police team under OIC Pannala Police IP Upul Ariyaratne and IP Gunaratne and the SOCO team under IP Tissa Bandara are conducting further investigations to arrest her lover on suspicion.
