Women engaging in prostitution robbed

A former soldier and another who posed as police officers robbed the women who engaged in prostitution through advertisements in the websites were arrested by Dehiwala police.  The suspects told the women that they would be arrested for engaging in prostitution and robbed them of their cash and jewellery. Investigations revealed that the suspects had used forged police identity cards. 

Police said the 53 year old main suspect had been dismissed from the Army in 2009 on the charge of possessing a live hand grenade. The other suspect was his 50 year old brother.


 During investigations, the police had recovered  stolen jewellery valued  at more than Rs.1.5 million.
 OIC Anti Vice Investigation Branch and Crime Investigation Branch SI Weerasinghe, Sergeants Priyantha, Bandara, PCs Thennakoon, Sandaruwan,  Nihal and Chamara had carried out the raid and arrested the suspects.
