Power Minister Gamini Lokuge said that Lanka IOC (LIOC) had informed him that at this moment they were unable to supply fuel stocks for the generation of electricity to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
However, following an appeal made by Lokuge to avoid an imminent power outage in the country, the LIOC had informed the Minister that they will raise the matter with the LIOC head office.
Lokuge further said that a ship carrying fuel stocks had arrived at the Colombo Port and if that is unloaded on time, the country can avoid a power cut today.
“If this cannot be unloaded on time, we will have to go in for a power cut today,” Lokuge said.
