The Department of Marketing Management (DMM) of the University of Kelaniya signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nestlé Lanka PLC and the official ceremony to exchange the MoU between the two parties was recently held at University of Kelaniya.
With this MoU, Nestlé Lanka PLC comes on board as a strategic partner of DMM. This event was graced by the presence of University of Kelaniya Marketing Management Department Head Dr. Ajith Medis, DMM academic staff and from Nestlé Lanka PLC: Vice President Human Resources Enoca Sirimanne, Senior Manager Learning and Training Shanaka Wijeweera and Assistant Manager Human Resources Business Excellence Erosha Fernando.
DMM is a dynamic academic unit in the university system of Sri Lanka, which focuses on crafting strategists to the industry. In its path of crafting strategists, DMM gives priority to academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the students. The undergraduates of the department have a greater exposure towards the industry and the department takes the necessary actions to bring in wider spectrum of knowledge in its curriculum.
DMM is unique among the other departments in the university system because it offers two diplomas (Diploma in People Skills and Diploma in Enterprise Resource Planning) to its undergraduates, in addition to the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Marketing.
An undergraduate who excels in all three programmes will be uniquely tagged as a ‘Certified Professional Marketing Graduate’ (CPMG). CPMG accreditation will be done through an academic cum industry membership programme, which will enable to make a branded graduate and facilitate lifelong learning.
With this MoU, Nestlé Lanka PLC is coming on board as  a CPMG Industry Partner not only in recognising graduates who are eligible for Certified Professional Marketing Graduate (CPMG) of DMM but also  as the delivery partner of Diploma in People Skills. Nestlé Lanka will facilitate the delivery and assessments of the second level of the Diploma in People Skills for DMM undergraduates at their company premises, using their human resources. This year, the sessions of the Diploma in People Skills commenced on March 31, 2017 for the best selected 30 undergraduates at Nestlé
Lanka premises.
