Nations Trust Bank (NTB) recently held the Annual Retail Banking Awards ceremony 2015 felicitating the employees who showcased outstanding talent that contributed towards business performance and service delivery in 2015 across various categories. 49 award category winners were recognized at the event, amidst much glamour and grandeur under the theme ‘Above and Beyond’. The evening was attended by NTB CEO Renuka Fernando, the chief guest of the ceremony and a member of the corporate and senior management teams.
Speaking at the event, Fernando said, “The Retail Banking Awards are in recognition of exceptional performance and achievements of the best among the best in our retail business. I extend my heartiest congratulations to all the winners and commend each one of you for your unrelenting efforts in providing an outstanding service to our customers throughout the year. It is with the commitment of our staff that we continue to set new benchmarks of superior customer convenience in the industry.”
The awards ceremony brought together over 1000 employees from the retail banking division including branches islandwide. The employees were recognized for their vision, execution and market leading propositions that made a notable impact on the bank and its customers.
The Retail Banking Awards recognized individuals and teams who emerged as overall winners in the Grammy Award Category. These prestigious awards include Best Private Banking Relationship Manager, Best Inner Circle Ambassador, Best Branch Service Champion, Best Credit Manager/Assistant Manager, Best Business Banking Account Relationship Officer, Best Account Relationship Officer, Best Assistant Manager, Best Operations Manager, Best Business Development Officer, Best Relationship Manager and Best Branch Manager in the individual awards category. The Kurunegala branch was titled as the Best SME Branch for 2015 and the coveted Best Branch for the Year 2015 was awarded to the Kandy branch.
Expressing his views on the success story of the Kandy branch emerging the Best Branch for the Year, Central Zone Senior Manager and former Kandy Branch Manager Chandana Dondanwela stated, “The cornerstone of our success is the customer-centric approach and the urge to provide unparallel customer experience as one team with enthusiasm and high level of commitment. Our focus has been to provide the most suitable solutions to our customers while ensuring that we meet the financials as well as non-financial objectives.”

NTB recorded a profit after tax (group) of Rs.2.6 billion in 2015 a growth of 3 percent compared to the year 2014. The loans and advances portfolio recorded a growth of 23 percent with deposits recording a growth of 16 percent during the year. The bank’s ROE of 17.98 percent has remained consistently above industry and is one of the highest in the sector.
