AkzoNobel Paints Lanka, marketers of the world renowned decorative paint brand ‘Dulux’, was ranked amongst Sri Lanka’s most preferred employers in the 2015 ‘Great Places to Work’ report published this June.
This is the third consecutive year that AkzoNobel Paints has been chosen for the prestigious index that recognises the most respected and coveted employers in Sri Lanka.
AkzoNobel Paints is the world’s largest coating manufacturer commanding the market in decorative paints and car refinish coatings with brands such as ‘Dulux’ and ‘Sikkens’ in its portfolio. The company employs 106 staff members locally.
Great Place to Work partners with successful businesses around the world to create, study and recognise great workplaces. Globally, the institute works with over 7,000 organisations, surveying over 3.5 million employees. In Sri Lanka, Great Place to Work has been in operation since 2012 and identifies 20 workplaces that satisfy its criteria each year in collaboration with Lanka Monthly Digest magazine. AkzoNobel Paints is one of just seven companies that have been consistently recognised in the report for three years running.
This year, 60 companies were evaluated through a survey and interview process that focussed on employee feedback for re-evaluation of the survey results. AkzoNobel Paints Lanka was commended in particular for its team morale, which the company fosters through a flexible and understanding working environment and regular opportunities for career development and progression. AkzoNobel employees are privy to excellent training and development programmes and gain valuable experience through cross exposure afforded by the organisation’s international network. The team is guided by the expertise of an industry veteran Gerald de Saram, Managing Director of AkzoNobel Paints Lanka, who has been with the company for over 30 years.
In addition, the AkzoNobel Paints team is committed to its social responsibilities, with a child protection trust fund and regular community service initiatives that employees are encouraged to be involved in.
“With the opportunities for career and personal satisfaction that we strive to create, we find that our working environment is friendly, respectful and inclusive,” said AkzoNobel Paints Lanka General Manager HR Damayanthi Galpotte.
“It’s an honour to be placed on the Great Place to Work list once again and we would like to thank our team for making this possible. The placement has definitely strengthened the company’s commitment to be a responsible employer and corporate citizen.”
