Shakata: This yoga or Dosha occurs when Jupiter is placed in the 6th, 8th or the 12th House from the Moon sign in a Tatkaala Kendra cast. (A Tatkaala Kendra is a horoscope cast to determine the positions of planets at a given time.) Shakata Yoga also occurs when a weak Moon moves into the 6th, 8th or the 12th House where Jupiter is already placed. This Yoga would not operate if the Moon is full. (In this context, the Moon from Pura Atavaka to Ava Atavaka is considered full.)
However, Shakata Dosha gets nullified when Jupiter or the Moon is associated with Rahu or when the Moon is conjunct with another malefic planet of when the Moon is aspected by malefics.
Shakata Yoga does not occur when the Moon is placed in Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Virgo signs. The events and activity such as marriage or commencing a journey on an important mission should be avoided when the Shakata Yoga is in operation.
Bhumi Shukra: Shukra Dosha operates in the fire, on the land, in the air and again in the fire on Pura Diyavaka, Navavaka, Dasavaka and Dolosvaka respectively. It also operates on the land on Ava Jalavaka, in the fire on Ava Viseniya, on the land on Ava Satavaka, in the on Ava Tudusvaka and on the land on Amawaka.
Soola: Soola Dosha is categorised under Sankranti Soola, Ayana Soola, Varsha Soola, Visha Soola, Ravi Soola and Chandra Soola.
Sankranti Soola: The Sun’s last 30 Sinhala hours (Ghati) in its transit in a zodiacal sign (Rashi) and its first 30 hours in its transit in a new sign constitute the duration when Soola Dosha operates.
Ayana Soola: This Dosha operates in the first three days before and after the Sun’s ingress into Cancer or Capricorn.
Varsha Soola: This Dosha operates on a Wednesday coinciding with Pelaviya and on a Sunday coinciding with Satavaka.
Ravi Soola: Count 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th (Abhijit included) constellations from the constellation where the Sun is posited. These constellations are considered inauspicious.
Chandra Soola: Count the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th constellations from the constellation where the Moon is placed. These constellations (Nakshatras) are considered inauspicious.
(Students of Astrology are also advised to familiarise themselves with periods of the day when Gulika and
Rahu kala operate.)
