Vedic Astrology gives an important place among predictive techniques to yogas or special combinations or configurations of planets in a horoscope.

Special yogas identified at a glance in a horoscope enables the astrologer reading it make a snapshot judgment of it: whether the native would achieve great success in life or he would remain in poor and humble circumstances till the end of his life, or whether despite being born into very humble circumstances, would achieve success in the course of time by dint of perseverance or under fortuitous circumstances etc.

In the previous articles we discussed the Sunapha, Anapha, Durudhara, Vasumati, Gaja-kesari, Kahala yogas and also the Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas. We propose to familiarize our readers with some more important yogas in this article.

Shreenatha Yoga: This yoga arises when the 7th lord is placed in the 10th House in conjunction with the exalted 10th and 9th lords.

According to the classical work, Phaladeepika this yoga is produced when Venus, the 9th lord and Mercury are posited in Kendras and Konas (Trines) in exaltation. Indian Jyotish Guru Dr. B.V. Raman says in his ‘A Catechism of Astrology’ that this also is formed when the 9th lord, Mercury and Venus occupy Kendras in exaltation, Swakshetra or in a friendly House.
Results: The person born with this yoga, would rise to a position equal to a king or a ruler.

Adhi Yoga: There are two types of Adhi Yoga as Lagnadhi Yoga and Chandradhi Yoga.

Lagnadhi Yoga:  This yoga is produced when benefics are placed in the 6th, 7th and 8th Houses from the Lagna without association or aspect of malefics.

Chandradhi Yoga: This yoga comes into operation when benefics are placed in the 6th, 7th and the 8th House from the Chandra Lagna or the sign where the Moon is posited.

According to commentators, this yoga would arise even if benefics occupy one or two of the three Houses, 6, 7 and 8, not necessarily all three Houses. However, there is consensus that the benefits of this yoga would come to fruition in full measure if all the three Houses are occupied by benefics.

Results:  The beneficiaries of either of these two kinds of Adhi Yoga would enjoy every kind of happiness and comfort a normal human being desire or crave for.  They live long and are free from disease. They would subdue all enemies.

Akhanda Samrajaya Yoga: This yoga comes into effect if one among the 9th, 11th and 2nd lords is placed in a Kendra from the Moon and Jupiter becomes the 2nd, 5th or the 11th lord.

Results: According to a verse in Saravali, the person born with this yoga becomes a ruler who would not face a challenge to his throne or his kingdom. Commentators say that benefits of yogas described in verses in Saravali, Phaladeepika, Brihat Jataka etc. are exaggerated and besides, they should be interpreted to suit the present- day- context. Therefore, the interpretation should boil down to that the person fortunate to be born with this yoga would be wealthy and powerful and would hold a position of considerable authority.
