A Tribute to Tamil Cine Greats Directed by Soundarie David Rodrigo
Speaking about the postponement, Soundarie had this to say. “The presenters of this unique Tamil Musical Show – Sangeetha Megam - together with all the musicians and singers have been working hard to bring this to you... and whilst we understand the struggle of our people, we also feel the need to bring in some music to these dark days, as a sign of hope and better times ahead. We also feel it is important to continue to support young talent and artistes as a performance platform is their only form of bringing out the best of their talents. A lot of hard work has been put in for the show, and it is guaranteed to ease the tension and anxieties we Sri Lankans are facing on a daily basis.
Local music lovers will be thrilled to watch Prakash K of “Voice” fame belting out some popular hits on stage as part of the line-up of singers. Soundarie is also proud to introduce some fresh new voices including Megan Dhakshini Shatrughan, Abinesh Ravichandran, Amaan Rifai and Tanuja Joseph Varghese to the stage.
We would appreciate your presence, not merely to support the artistes, but also to have an evening of music from some of the great composers of Tamil Cine Music - presented to you by some of Sri Lanka's young Tamil singers - voices not to be missed."
The concert is sponsored by Tokyo Cement, Amika Hotel Madurai and Delmege, supported by Lalitha Jewellers, Re.pub.lk, Ceylinco Life and the Soul Sounds Academy.
Some soul-stirring hits from the 80’s and 90’s of the composers Ilaiyaraja and A.R. Rahman as well as some new hits of the other music directors of the Tamil cine industry are set to be performed.
Expect some unique arrangements of music and medleys put together to bring back memories and a live performance of Soundarie’s original tamil love melody “Kaadhalil”.
