The chorus demanding the resignation of the Cabinet and the Prime Minister grew yesterday with former Media Minister Dullas Alahapperuma requesting President  Gotabaya Rajapaksa to take steps in this regard paving way for Parliament to establish a new interim government.

In a letter, he said the President should listen to the sentiments of people protesting and demonstrating throughout the country. He noted in his letter that the attempts to retain power by luring MPs into the government’s fold through inducements would only exacerbate the current crisis.

He has met the President and handed over the letter. He has proposed the new administration representatives of all the parties in Parliament. Mr. Alahapperuma has dubbed the appointment of the latest Cabinet with young blood as a positive but late step.
