Medicinal uses of Siyambala

Siyambala (Tamarindus indica linn) is a plant that grows in many parts of the country. Its leaves, flowers, seeds, pods and bark are used for various medicinal and therapeutic purposes. Siyambala contains tartaric acid, Citric acid and potassium citrate. 


Health benefits : Concoctions made out of Siyambala leaves could be used to treat constipation, swellings, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma and various other ailments and illnesses. 
It is used for medicinal uses  and some of them are listed below. 


Wheezing : Mix Siyambala paste, sour orange seeds, raisins, dried ginger, Walmee, bee honey to make a concoction that is recommended to cure wheezing. 


Fever : Use of half a pod of Siyambala with 40 ml fresh cow milk to help cure fever.


Indigestion : Mix ripe Siyambala paste with water and add sugar, pepper powder, cloves, camphor and cinnamon powder and consume as a concoction.
