The National Chamber of Exporters (NCE), the only private sector chamber that exclusively serves Sri Lankan exporters, will conduct ‘Exporters Post-Budget Forum’ on March 8, 2019, at Orchid Room, Hotel Galadari, from 3:30 p.m. onwards, following the presentation of the annual budget of the government by the finance minister.
The forum will address the taxation and fiscal issues related to the budget, their implications on the export sector and will also clarify any issues of exporters in this regard.
The chamber has already submitted to the Finance Ministry a comprehensive set of proposals related to the export sector for consideration and inclusion in the budget proposals. These will also be discussed at the forum.
The finance minister will be invited to participate in the forum as the chief guest and address on the salient features of the budget related to exports.
The main presentation at the forum to analyse the taxation and fiscal issues will be delivered by KPMG Tax and Regulatory Principal Suresh Perera (LLB Attorney-at-Law and FCMA).
The main presentation will be followed by a panel discussion comprising the following panellists: senior representatives from the Finance Ministry, Inland Revenue Department and Central Bank, Information and Communication Technology Agency chairman, Joint Apparel Association Forum secretary general, Veritae Research director research, Export Development Board chairperson and National Chamber of Exporters president.
The exporters will be able to make use of this opportunity to be aware of the impact of the relevant taxation and fiscal proposals of the budget of their export operations and as to how they could make the best use of them to enhance their businesses.
