Mahapola Lotto, the new lottery offering never before seen weekly grand prizes of up to Rs. 150 million, has shaken up the Sri Lankan lottery market yet again by issuing a ticket free to customers getting even a single winning number from current M Lotto ticket picks.
Oceanic Games, the managers of the lottery started implementing this new prize structure from September 29, 2014, with the aim of encouraging customers by providing them with even more chances to win.
Previously, M Lotto had only given out prizes if a customer had correctly picked two or more numbers, which resulted in fewer winning picks for customers. Now, with the addition of a free ticket for every single M Lotto number win, there has already been an uptick in the overall prizes and money won.
First disrupting the local lottery sector by promising customers the chance to pick their own winning numbers, the new single number free ticket prize is another step in Oceanic Games’ track record of innovation in the Sri Lankan lotteries industry. Previously, had a customer wanted more than once chance to win; they mainly bought more than one lottery ticket.
With this revised prize structure, customers can now win a free ticket by just having a single winning number on their current M Lotto ticket.
“Thanks to our customers, M Lotto has already become not only the best loved products in our portfolio but also one of the most popular lotteries in Sri Lanka. With the newly introduced single number wins, we are aiming to satisfy our M Lotto customers even more, as their chances to win also increase significantly. We have already seen a positive impact with this change and we look forward to encouraging more new customers to try M Lotto,” said Oceanic Games Corporate Communications Manager Harshini Sirinanda.
Having already paid out a Rs. 4 million jackpot for its M Lotto product, within just three months of its launch, Oceanic Games has been steadily expanding its presence across the island, investing heavily in skills development and creating more job opportunities. Oceanic Games has also committed itself to supporting the cause of higher education by contributing proceeds from its sales to the Mahapola Trust Fund.
